Program Details

Part 1: Classroom Instruction

The first two weeks of the program are classroom instruction at Marshall Medical Centers’ Sleep Medicine Academy.  The program is accredited by the American Academy for Sleep Medicine as an A-STEP Introductory Course Provider. Through this course, students will obtain the knowledge and tools needed to begin working as a sleep technologist. At the end of the two-week class, students will be required to take and pass the AASM A-Step final exam.

Part 2: On-the-Job Training

Weeks 3-8 of the program will be spent training with the Huntsville Hospital Sleep Diagnostic Lab department. The first week will be spent learning the day technologist role, while the rest will be spent training with the night technologists. During the clinical shadowing portion, students will also complete a series of online self-study modules through AASM.
