Huntsville Hospital Health System Online Orientation

Your health and safety are our top priorities. If you've experienced any flu-like symptoms (chills, fever over 100.4F, cough, etc...) in the past 14 days, email onboarders@hhsys.org to reschedule your orientation.

Clinical Orientation

 I. What to Wear

  • Business casual attire or scrubs are acceptable.
  • We recommend you bring a sweater or jacket as some rooms can be quite cool.
  • Follow the Huntsville Hospital Health System dress code any time you are clocked-in. Ex: no blue jeans.

II. Parking

  • Park where you are assigned by Security.

III. Lunch and Snack Recommendations

  • Box lunches will be provided on the first day (Monday) of orientation. For the rest of the week, we recommend bringing your lunch. There are public refrigerators and microwaves in the Cochran cafeteria.
  • The Cochran Training Center offers a vending kiosk with snacks, sandwiches and drinks for purchase. 

IV. Expectations

  • You must remain awake and alert during orientation.
  • Cell phone usage is limited to breaks and lunch.
  • If you have a personal emergency let your instructor and unit contact know immediately.
  • Bring your Clinical Orientation Folder each day during orientation.
  • If you are late or absent: call (256) 265-9410 and leave a message.

V. Non-licensed Clinical Orientation (PCAs, Techs, etc.)

  • Orientation is at the Cochran Training Center located at 290 Cochran Road SW (off Wall Triana in Madison), Huntsville, AL 35824.  

VI. RN/LPN Clinical Orientation

  • RN/LPN Clinical Orientation starts after general orientation on Monday. Clinical orientation is Monday through Friday. You must attend all 5 days. You will be given a schedule on Monday. 
  • Your clinical orientation will be at the Cochran Center (290 Cochran Road SW) Monday through Thursday. On Friday, you will go to the Dowdle Center located at 109 Governors Drive (at the corner of Governors Drive and Gallatin Street). Clinical Orientation may vary based on unit. Please refer to your hiring manager or educator with questions.

VIII. LPN to RN Bridge program

New hires:

  • Will attend general orientation.
  • Will receive clinical orientation packet during general orientation. Instructions on how to complete clinical orientation will be on packet.
  • Department educator will follow up with new hire

Internal transfer (employees):

  • Pick up LPN to RN Bridge packet at Clinical Nurse Practice (Dowdle Center) or with department educator (depending on situation)
  • Instructions on how to complete clinical orientation will be on packet.
  • Department educator will follow up with transfer employee
