Nutrition Counseling
Nutrition education with a registered dietitian is a cost-effective way to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Registered dietitians have the skills and knowledge to translate nutrition science into practical information. Huntsville Hospital Nutrition Services, located inside the Huntsville Hospital Medical Mall, offers individual outpatient nutrition counseling for a variety of conditions, including but not limited to:
- General nutrition and wellness
- Cardiovascular disease
- Digestive disorders
- Type 2 diabetes
- Bariatric surgery
- Weight concerns
- Eating disorders
MedGem Metabolism Testing
MedGem® is an FDA-approved device that takes the guesswork out of how many calories you burn by measuring your metabolism. It measures resting metabolic rate, which is the number of calories your body burns without any extra activities. The appointment consists of 15 minutes of measurement combined with recommendations given by a registered dietitian on how to use the results to best meet your goals.
The Becky Streetman Center
The Becky Streetman Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders through Nutrition Intervention is also located inside the Huntsville Hospital Medical Mall. Our dietitian, Anna Key, is a certified eating disorder specialist and provides expert, evidence-based care for children, teens and adults struggling with eating disorders.
