About Volunteer Services

The Volunteer Services Department is responsible for the overall management of volunteers and the implementation of volunteer support throughout Huntsville Hospital.

The Volunteer Services office provides a centralized system for effectively incorporating volunteers into all aspects of Huntsville Hospital and its affiliated facilities, and to support and enhance the mission of Huntsville Hospital to provide quality care to improve the health of those we serve.

The office of Volunteer Services is committed to providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for members of the community. In so doing, we strive to enhance and support the vision of Huntsville Hospital to be the best hospital in Alabama and be nationally recognized for excellence.

The goal of Volunteer Services is three-fold: to provide volunteers that can assist hospital staff, releasing staff members to perform essential duties that only they can perform; for those volunteers to give a greater personal dimension to the delivery of healthcare; and for those volunteers to serve as ambassadors and liaisons between Huntsville Hospital and the community it serves.

The office of Volunteer Services continually strives to improve communication, training and education for all volunteers and hospital staff regarding the volunteer program. The effective and creative integration of volunteers into the total human resources system of Huntsville Hospital is vital in meeting the goals of the hospital. It is imperative to continually develop volunteer programs to meet the changing needs of hospital departments, individuals and the community at large.

It is essential to recognize the efforts and contributions of all volunteers and to provide them with an opportunity for both personal and professional development. Individuals who participate in volunteer programs are given the opportunity to acquire new skills and knowledge, develop new interests; expand their social and personal support networks; and derive satisfaction from assisting others through compassion and understanding. I want to get involved.
